Congratulations! On 14 OCT 2024 Johannes Lucke was awarded his PhD from the Delft University of Technology for his thesis "Detection and Differentiation of Supercooled Large Droplet Icing Conditions"!

Johannes not only was a major contributor to the SENS4ICE project Supercooled Large Droplet (SLD) icing flight campaigns. SENS4ICE flight measurement data was also an essential part of his PhD. SLDs are much larger than typical cloud droplets, but are present only in small concentrations, hence they are very difficult to detect. His thesis successfully investigates a combination of two instruments for the detection of SLD icing conditions: Nevzorov probe and Backscatter Cloud Probe with Polarization Detection (BCPD). On behalf of the entire SENS4ICE team we are very happy and proud of Johannes' achievement!
