On 17 January 2024, Christoph Deiler from German Aerospace Center (DLR) was invited present the final results of the SENS4ICE project at the bi-annual meeting of the German Pilot Association's (VC) working group ADO (aircraft design and operation).

The meeting took place at the VC headquarter in Frankfurt (Germany). It was an occasion to discuss the relevance of the SENS4ICE achievements and developments with pilots for their daily operations. During this very fruitful exchange, it became clear that the hybrid ice detection approach followed in the project allowing pilots to obtain a more comprehensive view on the aircraft icing situation is very beneficial for their situational awareness reducing their need to be distracted from the flying tasks in severe weather conditions.
