With both complementary aircraft icing EU projects ICE GENESIS and SENS4ICE coming to an end after five years, respective project results and conclusions were shared and discussed during final public events vice versa.

In the last week of November, the ICE GENESIS top level results, conclusions and outlook including technology gaps and research needs were presented at the SENS4ICE final dissemination event in Brussels (you can refer to our dedicated feedback article here). The ICE GENESIS final public workshop took place on 6-7 December 2023 in Toulouse. A brief SENS4ICE project high level summary was presented exhibiting the significant progress and maturation of ice detection technologies specifically for Supercooled Large Droplet (SLD) icing conditions including successful demonstration in icing wind tunnels and flight test campaigns. Particular emphasis was put on presenting technology challenges and imminent research requirements. The SENS4ICE achievements and outcome were greatly appreciated by the icing community and stakeholders. There was a clear consensus that further collaborative European research also continuing to involve international partners is absolutely paramount in order to meet industry needs and certification challenges.
